All Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies maps have been ranked among the worst and best

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies is an excellent addition to the story of the series. It was a fresh start in many ways for Zombies fans. It started a new storyline with Samantha Maxis still a pivotal character, and a host of new built-in features made the game much deeper than it was before. However, the maps brought their vibrancy to Zombies, bringing in many new areas we had never touched before, unlike Black Ops IV, which only had maps remade in the history of the Aether. Here are all the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies maps ranked from worst to best.

Abandoned?

As of this writing, Black Ops Cold War's final Zombie map, Forsaken, is yet to be released. We will update this post later, as soon as we get a chance to play it.

4. Outbreak

Outbreak is a bit of a wildcard entry because it's so different, to the point where you can consider it a separate mode. Since choosing Outbreak gives you access to all Outbreak maps, we'll include it here.

In Outbreak, instead of surviving rounds, your team must complete objectives to advance to the next location where the enemies are more difficult. Wherever you go, you want to loot buildings for weapons and items to help you improve and survive better.

Outbreak isn't terrible, but it's hard for longtime Zombies fans to see this area of Zombies continually being updated with new maps and content when classic round-the-clock gameplay felt left behind at a few moments. Outbreak looks like it was all put together for the fun of it. Your first few times playing is great, but the novelty wears off quickly. There's no real story here, except in the two main Easter egg missions, and every item and item is drawn from other Zombie maps.

3. Base of fire Z

Firebase Z was the first post-launch Zombie map in Black Ops Cold War and was the first fully original Zombie map from Gorod Krovi of Black Ops III in 2016. Set in Vietnam, the Easter Egg's main mission revolves around the Samantha's rescue after being captured by Doctor Caught and thrown into the dark ether.

As for the installation, Firebase Z is nothing special, but its layout is fun. You start in a small village where the Pack-a-Punch machine is located and then you teleport to the titular base. In the base, you can fight through three branched areas that have generators for energy. Outside each area is also a firing range where a Horde and a horde of zombies will occasionally attack the generators to drain energy. Mimics made their debut here, starting as ground objects that transform and attack you when you get close.

One of the best reasons to play Firebase Z, however, is its wonderful weapon, the RAI-K84. This is one of the strongest and most exciting magical weapons ever, being a powerful assault weapon that can also fire orbs of energy that you can detonate to take out large hordes.

2. The car

Die Maschine is the first Zombie map for Black Ops Cold War and is a fresh start, including the first ever Zombie map, Nacht Der Untoten. While the classic dilapidated building is the first structure, see when you start the game here, Projekt Endstation's secret base hidden underground makes this map stand out. As Requiem, you are exploring why Omega is interested in the area and how the Nazis gained access to the dark ether from here.

After fighting all the way, you can access the dark ether by interacting with a portal. The corridors in this section make crossing the area dangerous and exciting at the same time. The special enemies here are the Megaton Zombies and Plaguehounds. Shockwave DIE is the miracle weapon that sucks in zombies to produce more ammo for itself and has four different elemental boosts, but it remains our least favorite miracle weapon in the game.

1. Wall of the Dead

Mauer Der Toten is a really fun Zombie map that focuses on its vertical alignment. You start the game atop a tall building and zipline between a hotel and convenience store as you descend to street level. Once at the bottom, head to the subway to find power and back across the main street in Berlin to find Pack-a-Punch. The main enemies here are the Krasny Soldat which is just the repurposed Panzersoldat, and the Disciple who upgrades normal zombies and will drain your health.

Focusing on the story, our group of Requiem agents were captured by Omega during the second main mission of the Easter Egg in Outbreak and forced by Kravchenko to stop Valentina. He turned on Omega to access the dark ether and control the zombies here.

The weapon of wonder for Mauer Der Toten is the CRBR-S, another really fun gun to take control of. It starts out as a gun that blasts energy beams and has a floating companion that doubles your firepower, but after killing enemies, they release various modifications that transform the weapon. Each one gives you a different fire mode and helps keep the gameplay fresh. You can also upgrade the robot Claus, which will help you survive by killing zombies or reviving you if you fall. The only downside is that it's not on the battlefield long enough.
