How to get the Gjallarhorn Exotic Catalyst in Destiny 2

How to get the Gjallarhorn Exotic Catalyst in Destiny 2

Many have already got their hands on the infamous Gjallarhorn exotic rocket launcher in Destiny 2, thanks to the release of the Bungie 30th Anniversary Event. After completing the exotic quest “And Out Fly the Wolves” and receiving yours, the next logical step is to search for the weapon catalyst. Exotic Catalysts can bolster an Exotic's effectiveness through stat bonuses and additional perks up to unique perks found only on that weapon.

Luckily chance doesn't play a role in acquiring the catalyst and only requires you to find and unlock three chests inside the Grasp of Avarice dungeon. In this guide, we will tell you how to open these chests and where to find them.

Chest # 1

The first chest can be found after completing the encounter in the loot cave at the beginning of the dungeon. After falling through the floor after the first encounter, follow the cave until you find a large room with a ravine. You will notice that the Hive and the Fallen are engaged in a fight when only the Reaver Vandal is left to approach and start damaging it. After a certain amount of damage, you will see how it starts releasing engrams like the ones found in the first encounter. Collect one to acquire the "Burden by Riches" debuff and make your way to where you entered the room. The screenshot provided was taken from the perspective of the crate the Vandal is in.

Chest # 2

The second chest is located in the warehouse area after the encounter with the Ogre. Follow the path until you enter a large warehouse-like room where you will find a Reaver Vandal lying around. Like the first chest, it damages the Vandal until it starts releasing engrams to collect the debuff. Once the debuff has been collected, enter the air duct above and make your way to the water-filled room. The chest is located to the right on the platform that shares the wall you entered the room from.

Finally, the third chest can be acquired after completing the Fallen Shield encounter before the boss room. Once the shield is removed to advance towards the final fight, look around the large area for a Reaver Vandal. Once found, repeat the previous steps to collect the debuff and make your way to the launcher used during the encounter. Launch onto the central platform and reserve it to the top of the large building where the chest is. Note that you only have 30 seconds before the debuff expires and you die.

Catalyst

When you interact with the final chest, you will immediately unlock the Exotic Catalyst for Gjallarhorn. To fully unlock the potential of the catalyst, you must defeat 400 enemies with the rocket launcher. We recommend going to the Shuro Chi checkpoint within the Last Wish raid, where you can use a rally banner, defeat all enemies and wipe out. Repeat this process until you have fully unlocked the catalyst.
