Like any other online game, Call of Duty: Warzone can only be played if its servers and internet connection are healthy. As many veteran players know, battle royale tends to have problems with worldwide connectivity at times. This is mainly due to server maintenance, faulty updates or simply network outages. As it can be difficult to guess why you can't connect to the game, there are several ways to find out what the problem might be.
How to know if Warzone servers are down
The first thing anyone should do when unable to enter a Warzone lobby is go to the Call of Duty Status Page on the Activision publisher's website. From there, there's a drop-down menu on the right hand side that lets you choose the game state you want to check. From our experience, any network outages or problems are not detected until approximately 15-30 minutes after they occur. If it continues to indicate that all Warzone servers are still online, the page also provides links to your platform's network status page to see if this is causing the problem.
How to know if any Warzone issues are resolved
Another great way to stay informed of any ongoing issues involving Warzone is to check out the developer Raven Software Twitter account. In addition to outages, the account will also post when the next server maintenance periods are about to occur, which may also prevent players from entering the game. Better yet, the developer also has a Trello Billboard audience that lists all the issues the team is working on. In most cases during a server outage, the Trello card will alert fans how long they expect servers to be down and what could be causing it.
Check for updates in Call of Duty: Warzone
While your console can automatically download major Warzone updates, smaller (but still mandatory) updates tend to lurk on the game's title screen. So, if you see that you can't join a game after you've just finished one, restart the application and a minor update should be downloaded once you're back in the game.
