FIFA 22: How Record Breaker Cards Work

FIFA 22 introduced several new card types in Football Ultimate Team (FUT). One of these new types of cards is called Record Breakers. Record Breakers are new cards that are updated versions of previously released basic items, but are aimed at a specific purpose. Who is eligible to receive one and how do the updates work? Let's review the information we know about Record Breakers.

On October 19, the first FIFA 22 Record Breaker item was released in Football Ultimate Team. The first was a GEN 84 item from Athletic Club striker Inaki Williams, a +3 GEN upgrade from his original base card. This article was to commemorate Williams' 203rd consecutive league game for this team in La Liga.

Electronic Arts sent a message to FUT users via the FUT hub on the 19th, explaining what will go next with these new items. Record Breaker articles, according to EA, will include players who have "broken select high-profile records" in football. These achievements can include any club, league, national or world record.

Players who are on these Record Breaker cards will receive “unique permanent updates” which are intended to reflect the type of record beaten by the featured player.
