Is there a Mewthree in Pokemon?

There are Mew and Mewtwo in Pokemon, so why not a Mewthree? Mewthree has existed as an entry in the Pokemon community since the release of Red and Blue. However, fans are wondering if a true Mewthree ever entered the Pokemon lore and where to find it if so.

A side story in Pokemon Red and Blue involves the origins of Mew and Mewtwo. Players can visit Cinnabar Island and learn how scientists used Mew's DNA to create Mewtwo, which later escaped from the lab. Capturing Mewtwo served as the end game for Pokemon Red and Blue, and after that was done, players scoured the game, craving for more content.

Shortly after Red and Blue's debut, rumors began to swirl. Many players will remember hearing about moving the truck near the SS Anne to find Mew, and Mewthree's existence began this way. The internet was filled with impossible tasks a player had to complete to get Mew (which wasn't possible until the Let's Go remakes), Mewthree, PokeGods, etc.

Despite its start in rumors meant to deceive fans, Mewthree is mentioned twice in the history of the Pokemon franchise. In Pokemon The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Again, scientists mention the creation of Mewthree after finishing Mewtwo. This obviously went nowhere as Mewtwo later destroyed the lab.

Mewthree's only appearance is in the Pokemon Pocket Monsters manga in Bring Down the Strongest Pokemon !! chapter. During it, Red's Clefairy receives Mewtwo's DNA and transforms into a version of it. When he does, he says, “This makes me Mewthree! Key!!" So, the only version of Mewthree so far isn't even a new Pokemon.

It is possible that a real Mewthree could exist at some point, but it is doubtful. The closest we would likely get is another creature created from Mew or Mewtwo DNA, but it will likely be called something less cheesy than Mewthree.
