Genshin Impact: Skyward Spine - How to get it, stats and materials for ascension

The Skyward Spine is one of the game's original 5-star weapons, a pole pole that provides a large amount of energy recharge. Unfortunately, it's one of the weakest 5-star weapons in the game and often pales in comparison to many 4-star pole weapons.

This makes the Spine one of the most disappointing pulls in the game. Seeing a golden light and getting the Serpent Thorn may seem exciting, but make sure you know what you'll be in once the weapon flashes across the screen and enters your inventory.

As a 5-star weapon, the Skyward Spine is obtainable from the Standard Banner and the Weapon Banner. You can get this weapon at any time from either banner, as it is a standard 5-star weapon. It's hard to get, as it's 5 star, so count your blessings if you're lucky enough to get it. (Or maybe curse under his breath that he's a Thorn Snake.)

Skyward Spine Stats

  • Rarity: 5 stars
  • ATT: 48 - 674
  • Secondary statistic: energy recharge
  • Secondary Statistical Levels: 8% - 36,8%
  • Passive: Blackwing: Increases CRIT Rate by 8% and increases Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, hits from normal and charged attacks on opponents have a 50% chance to activate a Blank Blade that deals 40% ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can occur no more than once every 2s.

Is the Skyward Spine good?

Unfortunately, the Skyward Spine is outclassed as a 4-star weapon by nearly every character in Polearm. Xiangling would appreciate the energy recharge provided by the Skyward Spine, but The Catch is now a superior option thanks to its better passive. (and it's completely free!)

The release of The Catch completely outclassed the Serpine Spine, as it provides a comparable amount of Energy Recharge, but still contributes to your team's damage by boosting your Elemental Bursts. The Skyward Spine meanwhile provides a measly 8% critical rate boost and negligible damage burst. The critical rate hike is good, but weak as far as liabilities are concerned nowadays.

Despite the high damage it entails, other 4-star weapons will be even stronger for DPS Polearm characters. Deathmatch is typically the best 4-star option for damage and is sure to outperform Skyward Spine.
