Astral Alignment is an offensive in Destiny 2 where a team of six players will work together to charge your Wayfinder's Compass Artifact to awaken the old fault lines found within the City of Dreams. You can expect to work alongside other players to complete this challenge weekly. Here's how to complete the astral alignment offensive and everything you need to do.
Load the compass
When the offensive begins, you and your squad will fight against the short wave of fallen enemies that invade the charge area. Once they are cleared, insert the compass into the central terminal and you will be transported to the next location.
Rift Rift collapsed
After the compass charges, you will be transported to the next level and will have to fight against several hordes of Taken. Your goal is to eliminate the strongest enemy, the forces taken with the distinct circles above their heads. Those will drop the Taken Essence. Take them to the crevices where the Taken spawn around the center of the map and to the right side of the opposite end. You can expect a handful of unstoppable champions and enemies to spawn during this battle.
Once all the Taken portals have collapsed, you will be transported to the next location. You can view your process under the mission icon on the left side of the screen.
There are several events for the next stage, so it may vary.
Prevent Aether Gathering
The next stage involves locating a lighthouse, which is a straight run. When you reach that end, you will enter a new area where several dead minions are still generating small Aether Bullets. You have to shoot those and stop them from reaching the Aether Collector you are protecting. The reaper you need to protect will bounce off the map and you will also be invaded by numerous enemies during the fight.
When the last reaper has been protected, you will return to the starting position to retrieve your Wayfinder compass and move on to the final stage of the event.
Charge the batteries
Alternatively, if you haven't collected Aether, you'll need to run the Charge the Batteries event. During this event, you will be tasked with grabbing different orbs of power and bringing them to the center of the map. As this happens, Taken will spawn throughout the area and there will be large enemies protected by shields. You will not harm these large enemies until you place all three batteries in the center.
You will need to go through this process twice or until the bar reaches the last end on the left side of the UI. Once the bar reaches the end, you will be transported to the starting location of the event to retrieve your fully charged Wayfinder compass.
Defeat the corrupt lieutenant
The final stage of the Astral Alignment event sees you and your team face off against a large Corrupted Orc. You will need to reduce his health into three parts. The first will be a standard fight with your allies who will shoot him until he reaches the first third of his health. When this happens, a shield surrounds him, protecting him from damage.
You must then wait for the notification “A taken waypoint has been generated” to appear. When that happens, you need to find the Pylon, a large orb of the Taken that you can destroy. When the pylon is destroyed, summon a captured enemy that you must kill and then collect the captured essence that it drops. He gives you an attack that you can use to destroy the Ogre's shields and then attack him. If he does not destroy the shields, another enemy taken with the essence taken will be spawned.
You will need to perform this rotation at least one more time to the last third of the Ogre's health. Once the Ogre is dead, you have completed astral alignment and can receive your reward on the stairwell.
