In this Pokemon Go Hoenn celebration event research guide, we'll briefly describe all the tasks you need to complete for the timed research event.
Pokemon Go Hoenn Celebration Event Research
Hoenn Celebration Event is the 3rd weekly celebration event ahead of the Kanto Tour event, which will be down in February.
It will start on Tuesday 19th January, at 10am and ends on Sunday, 24th January at 20pm local time.
Like any event, the Hoenn Celebration Event has a limited-time quest, which you can take part in too.
Completing this limited-time quest will allow players to encounter Rayquaza (with Charged Attack Hurricane), as well as gain 3.000 XP along with a silver Pinap Berry.
The following are the tasks and rewards for completing the timed research event:
- Capture two Kyogre - 10 Kyogre Candy
- Capture two Groudons - 10 Groudon Candy
- Catch 30 Pokemon - 30 Poke Balls
Capture two Kyogre
Kyogre is a powerful Water-type Pokemon that will appear between January 19 and January 26 for you to catch.
Time Buff / Debuff
If you fight him in the rain, his PC will be boosted. Rain will also increase its electrical and water attacks.
If it's sunny during your encounter with Kyogre, use grass-type Pokemon as they will deal more damage, and Kyogre will only get the upper hand if he has Blizzard (which can negate most grass-type attacks and counters).
A 4-member group is recommended when hiring a Kyogre, although 2 experienced instructors can also get the job done.
Capture two Groudons
Groudon is a Pokemon that will appear between Jan 19 and Jan 26 for you to catch.
Time Buff / Debuff
If you fight Groudon in sunny weather, he will have boosted CP and Fire-type attacks, but your grass attacks will be better too.
Rain and snow will increase your Water and Ice attack abilities respectively.
During windy weather, a Groudon with Dragon-type attacks can signal problems for you.
A 4-member party is recommended when facing a Kyogre, although 2 skilled trainers can get the job done even if the Groudon doesn't have a Dragon-type attack.
Catch 30 Pokemon
This is an easy, self-explanatory challenge where all you have to do is catch 30 Pokemon and voila! All done.
Doing all of these challenges will complete your limited-time Hoenn event research.
