Pokemon Sword Hydreigon | Location and how to evolve

Hydreigon is a sweet three-headed Pokemon Dark and Dragon that is exclusive to Pokemon Sword. Unfortunately, this means that Pokemon Shield players can only hope to get their hands on the creature by engaging in online or local exchanges. If you've chosen to collect Pokemon Sword, however, you may still be wondering how to add it to your Pokedex. Here is the answer to all your questions about Pokemon Sword Hydreigon.

How to get Hydreigon in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Pokemon Sword Hydreigon | Location and how to evolve

Hydreigon has not yet been discovered to roam freely in the wilderness of the Galar region, which means that instead of being able to capture the beast itself, you will need to grab one of its lesser forms and evolve it. The first form is Deino, found in the Lake of Outrage section of the wilderness in Pokemon Sword. You will then need to train the Deino to evolve it into Zweilous (pictured above) and then into the legendary Hydreigon.

The Lake of Outrage is located just below Hammerlocke Hills in the Wild Area and is absolutely filled with rare Pokemon. Deino is one of the rarest ever, however, so be prepared for a long search. First, you will have to wait for the right weather conditions - lots and lots of rain. Dragon and Dark-type Pokemon do not spawn in any other weather condition, and even then it's still a rare occurrence that can appear both in the terrestrial world and as a surprise encounter.

Once you finally manage to catch one, Deino will evolve into Zweilous at level 50, then Hydreigon at level 64. Again, if you are looking to add one of these Pokemon to your team in Pokemon Shield, you will need to trade for them with a generous Pokemon Sword player.
