Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies is bringing a hidden twist to the wave-based survival mode. This time you will not be fighting "normal" undead: these are magically empowered zombies from the dark ether.
As seen in The Zombie Reveal Trailer, the Operators are giving these spirits a taste of their own medicine. There are five Dark Aether entities in Zombies mode, four of which bestow different powers on our heroes. Here is a breakdown of all five Dark Aether entities.
The first, Kortifex the Deathless, is a general antagonist for the new storyline of Der Anfang. We see him bonding with Oberführer Wolfram von List in the trailer, giving the commander the power to resurrect the dead. It sounds powerful, but fortunately the other four entities are rebelling against him, which puts them on our side.
The first Dark Aether entity on our team is Saraxis the Shadow, a multifaceted being with explosive electrical powers. You can wield special weapons from each of the entities in Zombies mode, and the reveal trailer featured an explosive blue orb that belongs to Saraxis. It should come in handy against the undead.
Norticus the Conqueror is a being with the power of cold. In the trailer, we can see a winter wind whipping the zombies, even causing one of the walkers' heads to shatter. His voice can be heard when this power activates, so we should hear all four entities as we exercise their powers in Zombies mode.
One of the Dark Aether's most important weapons in the reveal trailer is a bright purple knife, given to agents by Inviktor the Destroyer. It seems he likes to set things on fire: when the knife is used, he creates a circle of purple flames around the team, burning any zombies that get too close.
The fourth entity of the Dark Aether, Bellekar the Warlock, donates the first weapon we see in the trailer: it is a bright yellow skull with its likeness. It is not clear how this weapon is used, but considering the basic basis of the powers of other entities, something terrestrial seems to be the most likely.
Call of Duty: Vanguard release date is 5th November on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One, so you'll soon encounter all five Dark Aether entities. If you want to meet Vanguard's Arthur Kingsley right away, you can pre-order any digital edition of the game to unlock him in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.
