Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - What are the Crossplay symbols in Multiplayer?

You can play the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or from PC via Blizzard's battle.net launcher. All are feasible and reasonable ways to play with a group of friends. Also, players have the option to play with other players, not on their platform. Those on Xbox One can play those on PlayStation 4, and both consoles can join PC players in a match. Players will now see special symbols next to the profile names of those they are for or against in multiplayer matches. Here's what those symbols mean.

What are the Crossplay symbols in Multiplayer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

Before you can see those symbols, you need to make sure you have cross-play enabled in your game. To check if you do, be sure to follow our cross-over guide to double-check you've prepared everything. It is not necessary to play with this feature enabled. So, if you don't want to play with anyone other than those on your platform, feel free to turn it off.

Also, you will have to try to find these symbols. You will likely see them before a match in the game, and they are only with those on your team. You will see them to the right of the profile name.

If you have it enabled and you are good to go, here are the symbols for each platform.

PC

The first is a bit obvious. You will know that you are playing with someone who is on a PC and is probably using a mouse and keyboard with the "mouse" icon next to their name. It stands out among others defines how someone is spending their time. You can also see if they are from a PC via the Blizzard battle.net launch icon next to their name. This icon will show in detail that they are using a PC, based on their network.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Just like the PC version, you'll see an indicator next to a player's name with a controller and PS network, or an Xbox One icon next to the controller. These players are clearly on their console. PC gamers who stick to keyboard and mouse setup are dubious of meeting them. The only way they do is if they turn on their "Controller" input into their options. This option will have it, so only their controller is picked up during gameplay, disabling the keyboard and mouse.

This action levels the playing field because those who will use a mouse and keyboard have a significantly better advantage. A gamer with a mouse will likely be much more accurate than someone using a controller.

These are the two different symbols you need to look for when playing cross-play. Again, if you're a PC gamer who strictly uses a keyboard and mouse, you're unlikely to come across console gamers using their controllers. You can definitely play with this crowd if you're interested in jumping with them, but you'll need to disable your set-up and stick to a controller.
