Genshin Impact: All Hydro characters ranked

The characters of Genshin Impact are all divided into a certain element and each character has a different degree of usefulness. It's great to have characters from different elements to diversify your teams and elemental reactions, so it's important to know which characters from each element are worth shooting for.

The Hydro element in Genshin Impact is one of the most useful elements in the game, with the opportunity to trigger some powerful elemental reactions. The Vaporize reaction deals some of the highest damage in the game, while the Freeze reaction makes it much safer to fight enemies. The Electro-Charged reaction is also one of the best ways to use the Electro reaction.

Unfortunately, there aren't many Hydro characters in the game right now. With only five currently released, the Hydro element has one of the least representations in Genshin Impact. That said, many of these characters still hold high positions in the overall meta of the game. Xingqiu, for example, is indispensable on many of the meta teams.

Here are all the Genshin Impact Hydro characters ranked, in order from least useful to greatest impact.

Barbara

Barbara is one of the initial healers of Genshin Impact, but unfortunately she is not very good at the current meta. Healing doesn't take priority in many of the game's more difficult content, so sadly Barbara isn't a great option.

However, it's useful if you don't have any Hydro characters. He can apply the Hydro element quite well with his elemental ability and normal attacks. As a result, Barbara will always have a place as a backup unit if you miss a character like Xingqiu or Mona.

kokomi

Unfortunately, Kokomi isn't much of an upgrade over Barbara. They do very similar things and she is not strictly stronger than Barbara. Kokomi will end up dealing more damage due to her Elemental Burst than her, but actually Barbara could beat her in aspects like applying the Hydro.

Consequently, Kokomi is not a very strong unit. Like Barbara, it's a great alternative if you don't have a unit like Xingqiu or Mona. If you feel you need the survivability, however, for example if you are weak in dodging attacks, then Kokomi is a suitable unit to use.

Mona

Currently, Mona is a strong but niche unit. Its main utility is its high damage Elemental Burst which can also improve the freezing reaction. As a result, Mona is a basic unit on squads that involve permanent freezing of enemies.

It is a popular pair with characters like Ganyu or Ayaka as a supporting unit. Mona's teams are quite expensive, but she excels at what she does.

Xing Qiu

It is debatable that Xingqiu is sometimes stronger than Tartaglia. His elemental ability can do an insane amount of damage and his blast is important for applying large amounts of hydro. It is also a four-star unit, which makes it much more accessible than Tartaglia.

The two characters certainly do similar things, but Tartaglia has one of the strongest teams right now in the meta. Xingqiu is most useful for allies dealing with single target damage and in Genshin Impact, area damage is more favorable. However, the gap between Tartaglia and Xingqiu is by no means large and can arguably be changed based on who you ask. This speaks of Xingqiu's strength as a unity.

tartaglia

Tartaglia is arguably the strongest Hydro character in Genshin Impact so far. He is by no means a hyper-carry (none of the Hydro characters are, actually), but he can deal large amounts of damage alongside other units.

Since his elemental skill form provides tons of hydroelectric applications, he can use elemental reactions very frequently. As a result, he has some of the strongest teams in the game. In particular, Tartaglia, Xiangling, Bennett and Kazuha. He also plays well with characters like Beidou, Fischl and Sucrose.
