How power weapons work in Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies

Call of Duty Zombies always includes ways to get more out of your weapons. Whether it's Pack-a-Punching or using the added Armory in Black Ops Cold War to increase the damage level, players love the ability to make their weapons more powerful than before. That said, nearly every iteration of Treyarch features a new way to get more damage. Here's how weapon upgrades work in Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies.

While we liked the addition of damage levels in Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch has slightly tweaked the way it works in Vanguard Zombies to make it easier. As we advance in Vanguard, the only upgrades made to your weapons are in the Pack-a-Punch machine. Additionally, Black Ops Cold War's damage levels are handled simply by describing which level you have Pack-a-Punched your weapons.

    • White - basic weapon
    • Blue - packaged once
    • Purple - packaged twice
    • Orange - packed three times

You will notice that there is no red tier this time around, so you will start each game with a white tier weapon and can increase its power from there without worrying about gathering materials to spend at the Armory.

While you no longer need to recover cooldown to boost your base damage, Pack-a-Punching has gotten more expensive for the first time. Pack-a-Punching a weapon once now costs 7.500 essence points, compared to the usual 5.000. Levels two and three still cost 15.000 and 30.000, as in Black Ops Cold War.

With the change in how the updated levels work, there are now more ways to get Pack-a-Punched weapons. Sometimes they drop from Sturmkriegers, and for the first time ever, you can get them from the Mystery Box.
