How will the new double banner work in Genshin Impact Version 2.3?

A new double banner is coming to Genshin Impact in version 2.3, with some returning characters, Albedo and Eula. The pair are featured in the new upcoming event for version 2.3, and as such each will receive a repeat banner at the same time.

This is the first time that miHoYo is holding two different banners at the same time during a rerun. MiHoYo indicated that this could be the norm in the future if multiple characters are important in a game's story. The banner will therefore work in a slightly different way from the banners normally present.

Typically, a featured banner has a guaranteed piety system, which guarantees you'll get a character in a certain number of pulls. For a character banner, you need to roll a maximum of 90 times before you get a 5-star character. (There's also a slight shame that it triggers at around 75 shots which greatly increases your chances of getting a 5 star. This tends to increase over time, making 90 shots nearly impossible in theory.)

For the Albedo + Eula banner, miHoYo has announced that the banners will work in a similar way. However, the two banners will they share the same system of piety. In other words, if you shoot for Albedo 50 times on her banner, you can switch to shoot for Eula and grab her in 40 shots maximum.

This feature is the Character Event Wish-2, which is presumably what it will be called in the future. This is a type of banner that will be returning for future patches, so make sure you have a good understanding of how it works now. You don't want to mistakenly roll for Albedo, but get an Eula instead.

Note, like all banners, mercy will carry over between banners. For example, if you do 60 pulls on an Albedo banner, you will receive Arataki Itto in up to 30 pulls. It will work the same way no matter what character banner you wear.

Finally, the same pity system also works for 4-star characters. If you perform 5 pulls on the Albedo banner without receiving a 4-star, you will only need to roll 5 times on the Eula banner to also receive a 4-star. (It is possible that both banners have 4 different stars, but details on this are unknown.)
