Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Remake - How I Want It

Rumors, now confirmed, are spreading through the community: Capcom is working on the Resident Evil 3 Nemesis remake. It is a news reported by the YouTuber Spawn Wave and the videogame information site VGC.
After the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, released 21 years after the original chapter, Capcom seems willing to continue to re-propose its most famous titles. Yes, I know what you're thinking: you want Dino Crisis remakes. Me too, but that's not what I want to talk about today.

Today I want to tell you about what I'd like to see in the future remake of Nemesis. This article could almost be an open letter to mom Capcom, who helped shape my gaming tastes. The guys from the Seamless HD Project gave us a little taste of what Resident Evil 3 could look like with modern graphics, creating some textures for the Game Cube port. A 1: 1 remake (as happened for Medievil, so to speak), does not seem to be the desire of the community.

Capcom guy

I don't really have many requests, you know? Because all in all I trust the developers, I know they care about the community and work to create a quality product. But it must also be said that, on some occasions, the third chapter was not really your forte. * coff coff * Dino Crisis 3 * coff coff * Since the starting point, that is the original game, is good, I would say that making mistakes is hard enough.

Resident Evil 3 is a game that is quite different from its predecessor, introducing more action mechanics, quick time events, and bullet crafting (which in my opinion makes the game a little too easy). Despite the differences, it is still a videogame milestone and one of the fan favorite chapters, which have been acclaiming a remake for a while. Chapters like Resident Evil 7 and the recent remake of Resident Evil 2 have done nothing but revive the faith in our hearts, because the time has come to relive all those moments that marked us twenty years ago and it's time to relive them in high definition, using all modern technologies.

The feeling

If you have read at least one of my articles (or my bio on this site) you know that the Resident Evil saga played an important part in my growth. Talking to me, you immediately understand the level of my obsession with games. I'm the one who burst into tears watching Resident Evil Vendetta just because Leon showed up on screen, draw your own conclusions.

I still remember when, too small to hold a joystick, I watched my parents play the PlayStation. Parents who were too busy playing to have a baby brother, let's remember this. For me it was always a great joy and emotion to be able to observe them.

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is one of those games that, growing up, I played with my father (and it is still one of the foundations of our bond) and damn him that he made me start an almost perfect match for no reason. Together we discovered this chapter and the secrets of him, the ways of having the alternative costumes (which were not yet called "skins") and obtaining perfect scores.

One of the things that is worth most of all to me in games is the emotional sector. The more I cry, the more I like them: the leaders at the moment are Red Dead Redemption 2, but that's a speech for another day. Resident Evil are those games that make my heart burst with joy, bringing to mind all the good times spent in front of the screen, alone or in company.

Before the graphics, before the various technical aspects, I evaluate the emotional side. And for this I wish this remake could excite me, before surprising me with stunning graphics and mind-boggling special effects.

Il Nemesis

Ahh, il Nemesis. Nightmare of all of us, who have had a heart attack at least once, with “the heart of a thousand billion” [cit.], But we have not had the (un) luck to have a remix of our plays. The Nemesis is an enemy of those who no matter how many times you beat the game, it will always get that shiver down your spine and convulsively grab the controller until his white knuckles come.

Enemy that luckily with a little skill can be defeated and, playing in hard mode, will drop a juicy loot every time. The Nemesis is, in a sense, the evolution of Mr. X from the second chapter, an annoying big man who chases us for almost the entire duration of the game.

The remake version of Mr. X is terrifying, distressing, our worst nightmare embodied in a video game. And from this game I expect nothing less: I want a Nemesis that frightens me, that terrifies me to the core, which makes it difficult to play and above all requires a minimum of strategy and skill to be killed.

The Gameplay

I know, I shouldn't just use Resident Evil 2 remake as a comparison, but I will. Just like Resident Evil 2 remake, I expect gameplay full of novelties, including puzzles and features. I wouldn't want a 1: 1 remake like it happened with MediEvil: as good as nostalgic travel is, I don't think that's what Resident Evil deserves. Especially because with the remake of the second chapter it was enough for me to enter the hall to be pervaded by a sense of immeasurable nostalgia. Sometimes, the right soundtrack can do great things.

That's enough?

Yes, that's enough. I'm a simple fan and it doesn't go far to make me happy. I'm not looking for who knows what, I just want a good game that reminds me of the good times I spent playing the original chapter. I would say that for me the two important things are the gameplay and a Nemesis done right, the other things are almost taken for granted. It is obvious that it will have stunning graphics, the RE Engine is a bomb and so far the games produced with it, from a graphical point of view, are amazing.

Is the story? Maybe Capcom will add some details, some little insight into lore here and there; maybe it will show us some more facets of characters like Carlos or Mikhail.

And the VR?

I'm not a huge fan of VR, mainly because it makes me sick and I can't enjoy it properly. The paths this game could take are two: follow in the footsteps of Resident Evil 7 or those of Resident Evil 2. VR or not? It's a tough choice to make. As terrifying as such a game played with virtual reality is, in my opinion it would be distorted from what it was originally.

Whatever happens, I will always be on the side of Resident Evil in the third person. It must also be said that I like the fixed camera, so my tastes are perhaps strange.

I know, it's a shelf you would like to have too. Envy me a little

I Rumors

Various rumors see Resident Evil Project Resistance as the multiplayer side of the Resident Evil 3 remake. Could it be true? We still don't know. Capcom is focusing a lot on Project Resistance (here you can read about my experience), but still little is known about this multiplayer project. Sincerely? I don't want to have too many fantasies, I haven't forgiven the creation of Umbrella Corps yet.

In conclusion: I just want to receive a nice game with a nice collector's edition (maybe a Nemesis action figure?) To keep company with the others. And to those who always criticize any of Capcom's moves I would like to say one thing: take a deep breath and appreciate what you are given, there is no need to spend your life unhappy with anything; it is useless and counterproductive.
