What is the best build for Arataki Itto in Genshin Impact?

Arataki Itto is a new 5-star Geo Claymore character that works primarily as the main DPS. However, building this character is a rather unique challenge, due to the way scaling of him works. While most DPS characters want to rack up high amounts of Attack, Itto wants to rack up a high amount of DEF.

This is similar to how DPS Noelle is built in Constellation 6. At Constellation 6, Noelle converts half of her total DEF to ATK, significantly increasing her damage. Itto works in a similar way, converting a significant amount of its DEF into raw damage. Therefore, her build will work a little differently than most other characters.

Here are a couple of different builds for Arataki Itto.

The best weapons for Arataki Itto

For those who can spend, his best weapon is easily the Redhorn Stonethresher, his signature weapon. The weapon increases a character's critical damage by more than 80% and also increases their DEF by 28%. If that's not enough, a character's Normal and Charged Attack DMG is increased by 40% of their DEF. This is perfect for Arataki Itto for those who spend a lot.

Those on a budget can look to another fantastic 4-star alternative, the Serpent Spine. This weapon increases a character's Crit Rate and also increases a character's DMG based on how much time they spend on the field. This is a good alternative for those who can't spend that much to get the Redhorn Stonethresher but can still spend some money. This weapon is available for purchase via the Battle Pass, which costs $ 10.

For free-to-play players, you can use the Whiteblind. The Whiteblind increases your DEF and increases your ATK and DEF on hit. It's not his best weapon, but it's still a great alternative for those who have Arataki Itto but can't spend more money on his other weapons.

The best artifacts for Arataki Itto

Arataki Itto will generally only work with one set of artifacts. This is the Husk of Opulent Dreams artifact set, which specifically increases DEF% and Geo DMG% through its effects. Aim for these substats:

  • Critical DMG: Crit DMG is her best sub stat here, as she passively earns Crit Rate through her ascents.
  • Criticism rate: You will still need to increase the critical rate. Generally, you will want at least 60% -70% Crit Rate and double the amount of Crit DMG.
  • DEF%: ATK is less desirable on Itto due to how its kit works. DEF% will further increase its damage output.
  • Energy recharge: Itto has an expensive Elemental Burst, which makes it a little difficult to reliably load each spin. Some Energy Refills can help with this.

It is not recommended to use an alternate set for Itto. His kit is restrictive and only really works if you build DEF%. As a result, you really want to grow exclusively for this set.

Best team for Arataki Itto

The best Arataki Itto team will be a full or heavy Geo team. Unfortunately, many of its best sub-DPS mounts and characters are expensive. Zhongli and Albedo, for example, are 5-star units that work well with him. But being 5-star units, they are not easy to obtain and therefore not accessible to many players.

Gorou is his best support, while increasing DEF% and Geo DMG% for the team. As a result, most of the time, you will want to enter Gorou. Here are some of his best teams:

  • Itto, Zhongli, Albedo, Gorou: Itto is the main damage provider, Zhongli provides security with his shield, Albedo provides Geo DMG off-screen, and Gorou empowers the entire team made up of Geo characters.
  • Itto, Ningguang / Geo MC, Gorou, Flex Healer: This is a cheaper alternative to the aforementioned team. Ningguang and Geo MC act as batteries to help Itto charge his Elemental Burst, while also contributing to the team's damage. Gorou upgrades the Geo characters in the team and you can swap any healers to help keep your team alive.
