There are many ways to increase your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fear but the best and most reliable way is to load up an assault rifle and spray everything with lead nearby. Ever since gaming companies realized they could make money by letting players get their hands on warring activities where they could shoot each other, the assault rifle has been a staple of the genre.

FAL

Easily the worst of the bunch, the FAL kicks like a mule which means you'll find it very difficult to take down anything with this weapon unless it's about a foot away from you and then it's still a shooting range. . It doesn't help that its rate of fire is pretty bad too. Avoid at all costs unless you really like a challenge or are Call of Duty returning veteran.

FN SCAR 17

Another assault rifle with enough butt to take down a wall, the FN SCAR 17 also suffers from low rate of fire, but if you can get it in your hand or if you know it from other iterations of the game, 'I'll soon realize it can do a lot of damage at long range, so it's a much better option for the FAL.

It could be another weapon that suffers from low rate of fire and considering they are all supposed to be assault rifles that is quite amazing but packs enough wallop to make up for it. It's also pretty darn accurate which means as long as you have something im sure to get it right.

WEIGHT 141

It's a wild beast that will grab your hand and drag the barrel all over the place but it's lethal at close range so it doesn't matter if you're struggling to control the recoil. Get ambushed and you should be able to get out of that corner with little or no problem.

M4A1

If you add the right components to the M4A1, you can turn a pretty spectacular assault rifle into a pretty decent weapon. Just make sure you update the sights and stock and you should have a lightweight killing machine that will look after you well in medium range combat. If you don't, then it's a little bit, meh.

M13

The M13 is quite similar to the M4A1 in that it is a great way to take down other mid-range players and this without you having to do anything to improve its overall performance. Just don't bother using the default view as it's a load of iron garbage and you won't be able to hit the side of a barn if you use it.

AK-47

The granddaddy of all assault rifles, the AK-47 is still one of the best and most reliable weapons in real life and in any form of FPS. It suffers from the same recoil issues as some of the others in this guide but once you have your head on how to fight it, spray hordes of enemies along with the best of them.

FR 556

The FR 556 is the best assault rifle around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It is a precision weapon that will kill anything in the room and if you find yourself trapped between a rock and a hard place well armed then the FR 556 will get you out of it as fast as possible to hit the reload. It also comes with burst fire which means that if you can hit it and with this accuracy you can, it will never get up again.
