Genshin Impact: All Cryo characters ranked

The characters of Genshin Impact are divided into a certain element and each character has a different degree of usefulness. It's great to have characters from different elements to diversify your teams and elemental reactions, so it's important to know which characters from each element are worth.

Cryo characters in Genshin Impact consistently rank among the strongest in the game, with the ability to trigger fusion and freeze reactions. Cryo characters are also indispensable in physical squads due to their ability to activate Superconduction, which reduces resistance to physical damage.

Cryo characters stand alongside Pyro characters in defining the game's meta, with some tremendously strong units. There is rarely a bad Cryo unit in the game, and even the worst Cryo character has their place.

Here are all the Cryo characters in Genshin Impact ranked from least useful to most impactful:

Qiqi

It's a sad situation when a five star is the worst character, even surpassed by a starting character. He has long cooldowns of his elemental ability and doesn't have the utility that other healers bring. Qiqi may advance in content that requires more healing, but for now there is no reason to use it at all.

Diona is a healer Cryo who is four star, carries a decent shield, and provides a lot of healing. Qiqi is of no use. She has some of the strongest heals in the game, but it doesn't matter. Every other healer just brings so much more to the table.

chongyun

The fact that Chongyun is so low on the list highlights the overall strength of the Cryo element. Chongyun is a niche unit, but very strong in its niche. His elemental ability carries an infusion of cryo, making him inaccessible to many compositions.

But in races where he performs well, he excels. Its Elemental Burst has some of the highest damage potentials in the game. Chongyun is very niche, but that doesn't make him bad.

aloy

Unfortunately, the new collaboration character in Genshin Impact isn't that strong, despite being a five-star. He ranks above Chongyun due to inclusion in multiple teams. She may fit well on a Freeze team or a Reverse Melt team, but is otherwise heavily outclassed.

It does not function as a primary DPS due to the weakness of its Elemental Skill. Much of its kit is pretty clunky to use, and its only value comes essentially from its Elemental Burst.

kaeya

Kaeya has the unique honor of being the strongest starting character in the game. Not only is he the most viable of the four free heroes everyone gets, but he's a surprisingly capable character.

Its Elemental Ability is capable of dealing large amounts of damage, but its main value comes from its Elemental Burst. Kaeya is also a flexible unit, capable of acting as a main DPS or burst support. Don't underestimate Kaeya because he's free, he's a strong unit on his own.

Rosaria

Rosaria is similar to Kaeya and essentially fits into any team that Kaeya does. She isn't much stronger than he is and she can be traded with Kaeya depending on who she asks for.

Her Burst is a bit more impactful than Kaeya's, so she ranks higher on the list. However, both are similar and the placements here are essentially a draw.

dione

Diona is a versatile support character who can accomplish several things. She has a strong shield, which provides protection for the team, and she has a strong Elemental Burst which does some good heals.

In Constellation 6, Diona can also deliver a powerful Elemental Mastery buff that can increase the damage of reaction-dependent teams. This is a little hard to get, like any Constellation 6 character, but definitely obtainable.

Eula

Eula is a strong main DPS that relies on physical damage. Eula has arguably the strongest Elemental Burst in the game when it comes to damage, capable of hitting absurdly high numbers. However, she has difficult conditions to fulfill and requires a lot of knowledge about her kit.

As a physical DPS, Eula also has limited teams. She is forced to bring an Electro character due to the reaction of the Super Conduit and generally has trouble keeping her Elemental Burst high. Otherwise, she is an amazing main DPS.

Kamisato ayaka

Ayaka is arguably on a par with Ganyu, one of the strongest main DPS characters in the game. He has almost no flaws in his kit, with strong Elemental Ability and Elemental Burst.

However, he really only excels in Freeze compositions. Her Elemental Burst will deal large amounts of damage to Frozen targets, and this is where you should use her. Her limited team comps don't do her any favors, but she's incredibly powerful.

ganyu

Ganyu is widely considered to be the strongest DPS main character in Genshin Impact. His charged shots deal an insane amount of damage, and his Elemental Burst deals high damage to frozen targets.

It can be used on a Freezing Squad or a Fusion Squad to increase the damage of its Charged Shots. Ultimately, Ganyu is one of the best characters in Genshin Impact and she will likely hold that crown for a long time.
