Fighting a member of Team Rocket should be enough to get you a Shadow Pokemon as you will be able to catch a new one with each victory.

Before you purify a Pokemon, you must first evaluate it and check the IV.

Cleaning a Pokemon will add two points to each IV stat, so if you have a 13/13/13 Shadow Pokemon, after cleaning it, you'll be left with a 100% Pokemon IV.

The purified Pokemon will also get a large CP boost and it will be slightly easier to evolve on later evolutions as you have already spent some candy to purify it.

The problem with purification is that the Pokemon will learn the "Return" move, which is a normal-type charged attack that sadly isn't a very powerful attack compared to others.

To purify a Pokemon, a trainer will need a certain amount of Stardust. The exact amount depends on the level and type of Pokemon and will be detailed under its stats.
