What is the maximum power level in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 has always had a Power level increase with each new expansion, and the same can be said for the seasons. when Destiny 2 first launched, the maximum Power level at the time was 300. It has since grown with each expansion, peaking at 950 with Shadowkeep, although 960 was attainable from Pinnacle Gear.

Season of Dawn has raised it again, and the max level is now 960 and 970 with Pinnacle Gear. Where it gets a little confusing is the effect of seasonal artifacts like the Lantern of Osiris from Season of Dawn. As you level up the Lantern of Osiris, you will also benefit from an increase in your Power level. This increase is temporary and only lasts for the duration of the season. When Season of Dawn ends, the increased Power will be lost and you will have to start building it again next season.

Artifacts of the Season allow players who may not be able to get their hands on Pinnacle Gear to increase their power level and even exceed the current limit. How beneficial this is remains up for debate, but it's something to grind as the season progresses and should buy players a little more comfort in the content of the final games than they might otherwise have.

All you have to do to increase your Power level is to play. As you gain experience and level up, the Season Artifact will level up with you, giving you the extra Power levels you seek.
